Mr. Law and Order Chris Christie is headed for even more problems in The Bankrupt State. According to nj.com, two Democratic legislators are asking authorities to investigate whether a political ally of Christie tried to bribe primary opponent Assemblyman Rick Merkt not to run for governor.
You may recall that the corpulent Christie recently hit some head winds with revelations of his authorizing tracking people through their cell phones without first obtaining a warrant when he was district attourney (as the ACLU charges), the $50 million no-bid contract he gave to John Ashcroft (John Ashcroft was the U.S. Attorney General in 2003 when the decision not to prosecute Chris Christie's brother Todd Christie for insider trading was made, though everyone else in the scandal was prosecuted), and the no bid contract he gave to David Kelley, also on the Todd Christie case.
According to nj.com:
Merkt (R-Morris) told reporters Thursday that John Inglesino, a lawyer with Stern & Kilcullen, offered him a "major position" in Christie's campaign or potential administration if he stayed out of the governor's race. Inglesino and Christie have denied that any offer was made.
In other Bankrupt State news, New Jersey is seeking a $2 billion line of credit to make sure it has enough money to maintain key programs later this year.
Years of freeloading by hundreds of separate township fiefdoms in the state – each with its own gravy train of schools, police, and public services, combined with decades of mismanagement by Christine "The Air is Safe" Whitman, Jim "Luv Guv" McGreevey, and Jon "Crash" Corzine has left the state a burned out hulk.
Worse, Corzine can’t even hit up Barack Obama for help even though he’s been kissing Obama’s ass for months now. Obama made it "let me be clear" clear where Corzine rates with the way Obama completely snubbed him on appointments (likley due to Corzine’s initial support of Hillary Clinton, and his coming to the Obama train late.)
With the losers lining up for the upcoming Governor race in the Bankrupt State, it’s clear nothing is about to change.
